15 July - TOAST NEW ZEALAND (REVIEW)
TOAST New Zealand, the biggest Antipodean dining experience in the Northern Hemisphere, was held on the sunny and hot 15th July in Regents Park. All the party-goers appeared to have a fantastic day (well at least until 4pm when we stopped serving our popular Kiwicellars wines!). All our amazing staff were energetic and worked tirelessly all day, trying to meet the never-ending demand for our wine. Kaye and John from Vynfields were on hand to help out, as well as to offer some in-depth knowledge of their wines, particularly to the earlier punters. We hope you were there to enjoy the day and to try our wines... if not, we will keep this page updated so you won't miss out on the next event we attend!
Wine Tasting Club Nights
Since Erin joined the wine industry fresh out of University (dream job for an ex-student, you get paid to drink!), she has developed a passion for wine and the desire to learn more. Enjoying wine goes hand in hand with good company and great food, so Erin has started up a social monthly Wine Club.
These evenings will be very social, but informative. There will be nibbles available throughout the evening, but you are more than welcome to stay on for dinner.
We will have a different topic each evening and we will taste 7 - 10 wines (depending on numbers), and yes you can finish the bottles over dinner! The club is free to join, and the cost of the tastings will vary depending on the topic. Kiwicellars will provide tasting sheets/tasting notes and literature where possible.
Hopefully you can come along to our next tasting night in December - which will be our final Wine Club night for 2006. Erin will be searching high and low to find an affordable range of own label supermarket vintage and non-vintage Champagnes to taste. The aim of this tasting is to find the best value for money Champers, so we can all stock up for Christmas!
After this tasting the Wine Tasting Club will be taking a break in the New Year when Erin is heading home to NZ to get hitched. We plan to restart the Club nights in early March 2007 so keep your eyes on this page for an update!

Review of our previous Wine Tasting Club nights
The first Club night we held was for 'Sparkling Wines from around the World'. We had about 12 wine lovers join us, and all enjoyed a fun night eating tasty nibbles, and more importantly learning from Erin and our detailed info packs all about sparkling wines, and getting to taste a great range of good value wines.
For the second tasting The Crabtree was closed for refurbishment, so we held a summer pool party here at the office. There were 10 of us this time, and we tried a great selection of Rose wines from around the globe, followed by a tasty barbeque which was perfect for the balmy London evening!
The following tasting was 'Sun, Surf, Hollywood and Wine' - a look at what North American wine has to offer. We were all quite surprised by the high quality of the wines, and how rich & full bodied many of them were. A lot of us tried the Zinfandel grape for the first time too - much to our pleasant surprise. We had a great group together again, and many stayed on until the pub closed!
Our next tasting was 'Bull Fighting, La Tomatina & Drinking Vino'. This topic was chosen as Erin recently returned from one of her 'research trips' to Spain and was keen to share all the knowledge she gained whilst away. We sampled a great variety of sparkling, whites and reds, and learnt more about the different regions (not just Rioja!), different styles and their labelling requirements. We had a large attendance yet again which was fantastic to see!
Our latest tasting, 'Discover Italy' was a popular topic, and again we had a great turn out. The vote for the most popular wine went to a delicious Chianti, but it is safe to say that there wasn't a bad wine in the bunch chosen by Erin.
